Discord Font Rules and Limits
A few constraints are worth knowing before you commit to a style, because they are the reason a pasted font sometimes does not stick.
- The @username is plain text only. Lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, and periods. Unicode is rejected outright, so style the display name instead.
- Display names and nicknames stop at 32 characters. Full-width and spaced styles burn through that budget fast.
- Text channel names are normalised. Capitals are lowercased and spaces become hyphens. Symbols, emoji, and Unicode letters pass through.
- Code blocks strip the effect. Text between backticks renders monospace, and most decorative blocks have no monospace glyph.
- Servers can enforce plain names. Moderators are allowed to rename you, and many large communities do exactly that.
- Accessibility is a real cost. Screen readers announce styled letters as individual symbols, not words, so keep anything essential in plain text.
Pasting Unicode is normal use and is not a Terms of Service problem by itself. What does draw moderation is using unreadable or invisible characters to impersonate another member, evade a word filter, or force your name to the top of the member list.
