Cool Steam Usernames
Frost, vortex, apex, nova — sharp names that look good next to a level badge. The cool username generator has eight edgier styles.
Cool, funny, sweaty, OG and meme-style Steam profile name ideas from your own name
This Steam username generator builds profile names around your name or a word — and unlike consoles, Steam lets the profile name carry symbols, spaces and Unicode, so the generator offers both a decorated display version and a plain one for your custom profile URL. Pick a style, generate 24 Steam usernames at a time, heart the ones you like and copy them into Edit Profile.

Username availability changes constantly. Copy your favorite and check it directly on the platform you want to use — this tool does not check Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Roblox or any other service.
Steam profile names render Unicode, so gothic, double-struck and small-caps letters show up in friends lists and lobbies. Copy a name here, then style it.
Tap the ♡ on any username to save it here. Favorites stay in this browser only — no account needed.
Every batch mixes three things: the word you type, the Steam style you choose, and the options under Customize. Symbols are on Mix by default because Steam profile names accept them; switch to URL-safe when you want the plain version for your custom profile URL.
Leave the word blank and the generator pairs two Steam words instead — Frost Vortex, certified_goblin, Pixel Sprite — so it also works as a random Steam name generator for an alt or a smurf.
Your name, a nickname, a favorite game word. The generator keeps it whole and builds around it: leo becomes FrostLeo, ✦Leo✦ or leo_enjoyer.
Cool, funny, sweaty, OG, meme, beast, retro or sci-fi. Each has its own vocabulary and its own symbol set; All Styles mixes them.
Use With Symbols for the profile name and URL-safe for the custom URL, heart the ones you like, then copy into Steam → Edit Profile → General.
Hand-picked examples per style so you can see the vocabulary before you generate. Sweaty and beast names dominate Counter-Strike and Dota lobbies; meme names are the Steam house style; cool and OG suit a curated profile — but every style here works for anyone. Click any Steam name to copy it.
Frost, vortex, apex, nova — sharp names that look good next to a level badge. The cool username generator has eight edgier styles.
Toast, goose, potato, walrus — the names that get a laugh in a Deep Rock lobby.
Sniper, AWPer, reaper, clutch — tryhard names for CS2, Valorant and Apex.
Vex, nyx, flint, sol — short names that read like a 2004 account. The rare username generator digs deeper.
Certified goblin, average enjoyer, local NPC — the format Steam is famous for.
Wolf, viper, kraken, raptor — the heaviest words in the list.
Pixel, arcade, sprite, warp — names for a library full of indie platformers.
Nova, cipher, reactor, nexus — names for Stellaris, Factorio and space sims.
Steam has three different names and only one of them is public. These shortcuts generate ideas that fit each one.
The public name in friends lists and lobbies: up to 32 characters, spaces, symbols and Unicode allowed, not unique, changeable any time. Steam keeps a history of your last few names.
Frost Leo · ✦ Leo ✦ · Leo Momentsteamcommunity.com/id/yourname — letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens only, unique across Steam. Use URL-safe results here.
frostleo · leo_enjoyer · iron-wolfCompetitive lobbies show the profile name in scoreboards, so keep it short and readable — sweaty or beast, no more than one symbol.
Clutch Reaper · LeoGG · Iron WolfIf the name should match your console gamertag, keep it under 12 characters with no symbols; Discord's unique username also needs lowercase.
FrostLeo · leo_zero · PixelLeoThe generator follows a handful of formulas — the ones you see in every friends list. Knowing them helps you tweak a result or build your own Steam name by hand.
Steam allows almost anything, which is exactly why one trick per name matters more here. Frost Leo reads on a scoreboard; ꧁☬✦𝕱𝖗𝖔𝖘𝖙 𝕷𝖊𝖔✦☬꧂ gets you muted. Keep the profile name to one symbol and put the plain version in your custom URL.
Steam profile names show all of these. Click a symbol to copy it — then use one, not five.
Steam profile names, Discord display names and Twitch chat show these; the Steam custom URL, Xbox, PSN and most in-game name fields do not. For full decorative alphabets that Steam also renders, try the cool text generator or the glitch text generator.
There is no AI behind this page and no connection to Steam or Valve. Steam names are assembled in your browser from five ingredients:
Steam is unusual: the account name you log in with is private and can never be changed; the profile name everyone sees is free-form — up to 32 characters, spaces, symbols and Unicode allowed, not unique, changeable as often as you like (Steam keeps a public history of your recent names); and the custom URL at steamcommunity.com/id/ is unique, plain letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens. Most "Steam username generator" searches want the profile name, which is why symbols are on by default here — but the custom URL is the one that has to be free, so the URL-safe filter exists too.
Because the profile name allows anything, Steam culture developed its own formats — the certified_goblin and Average X Enjoyer meme names, the Definitely Not smurf joke, the single ✦ or ☠ — and those are built into this generator's Meme and symbol patterns. If the same name has to work on a console, the gamertag generator keeps it under Xbox's 12 characters and the PSN name generator follows PlayStation's format; the Discord username generator handles the lowercase handle for your friends' server; and the main username generator mixes every style in one tool.
The three-name system and the custom URL rules are described in Steam's profile help pages.
It is a tool that combines a word you choose with curated gaming vocabulary — cool, funny, sweaty, OG, meme, beast, retro and sci-fi — and friends-list naming patterns to produce Steam profile names, with a URL-safe filter for the custom profile URL. This one runs in your browser, is free, and lets you copy any result with one click.
Examples from the styles above: Frost Vortex, Wobbly Toast, Clutch Reaper, Nyxo, certified_goblin, Iron Wolf, Pixel Sprite and Quantum Nova. Type your own name to get versions built around it, such as FrostLeo or Leo Moment.
The login account name never changes, but the profile name can be changed any time from Edit Profile → General with no cooldown; Steam shows your recent names to others. The custom URL can also be edited there, as long as the new one is free.
In the profile name, yes — ✦, ☠, ⚔ and most Unicode render in friends lists and lobbies. In the custom URL, no — only letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens. Use the With Symbols filter for the first and URL-safe for the second.
Profile names do not need to be unique, so any result works as one. Custom URLs do: nothing here talks to Steam, so paste the URL-safe result into Edit Profile → Custom URL and Steam tells you immediately if it is taken.
Adjective + noun + enjoyer/moment/andy — certified_goblin, Average Frog Enjoyer, Local NPC, Definitely Not Leo. Pick the Meme style above; spaces are allowed in profile names, so results keep them.
If your friends know you by one name, yes. Use the cross-platform preset — under 12 characters, no symbols — so the same name fits Xbox, PlayStation and Discord's lowercase handle. The gamertag generator is built for that case.
Yes. Every result has a Copy button, Copy All Usernames copies the visible list one per line, and the heart saves a name to My Favorites in your browser. Paste a decorated one into the profile name and a plain one into the custom URL.
