Cool Gamertags
Frost, vortex, apex, nova — sharp tags that look good on a scoreboard. The cool username generator has longer versions.
Cool, sweaty, funny, OG and clan gamertags built around your name
This gamertag generator builds gamertags around your name or a word and keeps every gamertag short enough for Xbox's 12-character limit, so the same gamertag works on PlayStation, Steam and Discord too. Pick a style, generate 24 gamertags at a time, heart the ones you like and copy them into your console profile.

Username availability changes constantly. Copy your favorite and check it directly on the platform you want to use — this tool does not check Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Roblox or any other service.
Console gamertags are plain text, but Steam and Discord display names accept fancy letters. Copy a gamertag here, then style it for those.
Tap the ♡ on any username to save it here. Favorites stay in this browser only — no account needed.
Every batch mixes three things: the word you type, the gamertag style you choose, and the options under Customize. Mixed case and no symbols are on by default, and every result is capped at 12 characters — the engine simply never produces a longer gamertag, so anything you see fits Xbox.
Leave the word blank and the generator pairs two gamertag words instead — FrostVortex, IronWolf, PixelSprite — so it also works as a random gamertag generator for a second account.
Your name, a nickname, a favorite game word. The generator keeps it whole and builds around it: ryan becomes FrostRyan, RyanGG or OGRyan.
Cool, sweaty, funny, OG, clan tag, beast, retro or sci-fi. Each has its own vocabulary and its own symbol set; All Styles mixes them.
Every result already fits Xbox's 12 characters; use ≤ 8 for Nintendo, heart the ones you like, then copy and paste into your console profile to check availability.
Hand-picked gamertag examples per style, all 12 characters or fewer so they fit Xbox as written. Click any gamertag to copy it.

Sniper, reaper, blitz, clutch — tryhard tags for ranked lobbies.
Toast, spud, goose, yeet — the tags everyone in the lobby remembers.

Up to 12 characters, letters, numbers and spaces; Xbox adds a #1234 suffix if your pick is taken. The default settings on this page are tuned for Xbox.
FrostRyan · IronWolf · Ryan GG3–16 characters, letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores; must start with a letter. Beast and sweaty styles fit the length well.
Ryan_Reaper · Alpha-Hawk · VoidRyanSteam display names and Discord display names accept almost anything, including ✦ and ⚔ — this is where symbols go. Discord's unique username stays lowercase.
✦Ryan✦ · ryan.gg · frostvortexSwitch shows a 10-character nickname that does not need to be unique, so short funny and retro tags read best.
PixelRyan · SadBloop · Ryan64The generator follows a handful of formulas. Knowing them helps you tweak a result — or build your own gamertag by hand.
One trick per gamertag. FrostRyan is a gamertag; xXx_FrOsT_RyAn_xXx is a 2008 Halo lobby and does not fit in 12 characters anyway. Keep it pronounceable so teammates can call it out in voice chat.
Consoles reject these, but Steam, Discord and Twitch display names show them. Click a symbol to copy it.
Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo gamertags allow only letters, numbers and a separator; Steam, Discord and Twitch display names show all of these. Keep a plain gamertag for the console and use the decorated one where it displays. For full decorative alphabets, try the cool text generator or the glitch text generator.
There is no AI behind this page and no database of taken gamertags. Gamertags are assembled in your browser from five ingredients:
The word gamertag comes from Xbox, and Xbox has the strictest rule: 12 characters, letters, numbers and spaces, and if your choice is taken Microsoft appends a #1234 suffix rather than rejecting it — which is why a gamertag generator that produces 12-character-or-shorter names matters more than one that produces 20-character ones. PlayStation IDs run 3–16 characters with hyphens and underscores and must start with a letter. Steam account names are private and display names are free-form. Nintendo uses a 10-character nickname that need not be unique. Discord usernames are lowercase, 2–32 characters, with a free-form display name on top.
That is why this gamertag generator defaults to short, mixed-case, symbol-free tags: a gamertag that passes Xbox passes everywhere else. For a bigger vocabulary that is not limited to 12 characters, the gaming username generator covers every console and launcher with a Short filter you can switch on; the PSN name generator is tuned for PlayStation's 16-character underscore format; the Discord username generator handles the lowercase rule; and the Fortnite, PUBG and Roblox pages build each game's own rules in.
The 12-character limit and the automatic #suffix are documented in Microsoft's gamertag FAQ.
It is a tool that combines a word you choose with curated gaming vocabulary — vortex, sniper, wolf, pixel, nova — and gamertag patterns to produce gamer names that fit Xbox's 12-character limit and therefore every other platform too. This one runs in your browser, is free, and lets you copy any result with one click.

12 characters, letters, numbers and spaces. If the gamertag you want is taken, Xbox keeps it and adds a #1234 suffix that other players see. Use the ≤ 8 filter to leave room, and pick something specific to you so the plain version is more likely to be free.
No. Nothing here talks to Xbox, PlayStation, Steam or Nintendo, so it cannot know whether a gamertag is taken. Copy the one you like and try it in your console's profile settings — Xbox shows the #suffix immediately if the base name is gone.
Usually, if it is 12 characters or fewer with no symbols. PlayStation allows 3–16 characters with underscores and hyphens and must start with a letter, so a mixed-case Xbox gamertag like FrostRyan works on both. The PSN name generator covers PlayStation-specific formats.
Short, pronounceable, one texture. Two syllables per word, strong consonants, no filler like xX or 420, and a style you can say in voice chat without spelling it. The Cool and OG styles above are built around that rule.
Not on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo. Steam, Discord and Twitch display names show ⚔, ✦ and ☠ fine — that is what the symbol section on this page is for. Keep a plain gamertag for the console and a decorated one for the launcher.
Yes. Every result has a Copy button, Copy All Usernames copies the visible list one per line, and the heart saves a gamertag to My Favorites in your browser. To style one for Discord or Steam, paste it into the cool text generator.
